Ingress Problem, Field Reality

Your PNM platform sees the noise. Your CMTS flags the impact. But when a tech rolls up to the tap, where’s the actual fault?

Here’s the reality most operators don’t talk about: in a recent field dataset of 13,624 detected events, 43.8% were ingress with no accompanying leakage signature at all, no Mid, no LTE. Translation: nearly half of what’s degrading your upstream is invisible to systems built to find leakage.

43.8%

of all detected events were ingress with no accompanying leakage signature.

Ingress and Leakage Are Not the Same Problem

Leakage is signal escaping the plant. Ingress is noise getting in, through a loose connector, a cracked splitter, a compromised drop the customer never reports. You can pass every leakage compliance sweep and still be bleeding upstream capacity to ingress you can’t see.

Closing the Gap

That’s the gap CPAT Technologies was built to close. The ARD4 autonomous ingress receiver runs continuously from the vehicle, no tech intervention, no windshield time wasted hunting, while the IRXP/IRXV portable receivers and ITX2 transmitter let field teams pinpoint the exact source down to the connector. It’s the physical localization layer that PNM and CMTS monitoring can’t provide on their own.

DOCSIS 4.0 and high-split/mid-split migrations are raising the stakes on upstream noise margin. Operators who can only see leakage are flying half-blind.

Nearly half of what’s degrading your upstream is invisible to systems built to find leakage.

Curious what your ingress numbers would show?

Let’s Talk

Pinpoint ingress and leakage—right the first time.

From field to headend, CPAT gives operators real-time visibility into upstream noise, helping teams detect issues faster, cut truck rolls, and keep networks performing at their best.
